Jenny has been passionately practicing massage therapy now for over a decade, always growing in the desire to learn more and more about these amazing bodies we live in.
Jenny knows firsthand what it is like to live in constant, extreme pain and feel helpless as to where to turn and what to do. She was involved in a severe car accident as a teenager where the vehicle flipped 9 times and she was thrown from the car. Needless to say, she suffered great injuries and trauma to her body and was told she would never have full use of her left hand again. Being that all Jenny was exposed to in her family growing up was conventional medicine, she went to the doctor for a regimen of pain pills, muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatories. She was on these for months on end with really no relief. Thinking this was her only option, she accepted she would just be in pain and hope one day it would go away. She managed for years with aches and pains daily, not being able to fully just be healthy or feel good. Then in early adulthood she was involved in yet another accident where her stopped car was rear ended at 55 mph. slamming her car into the stopped car in front of her. A diagnosis of double whiplash was given. In addition to the new injuries, the second accident had exacerbated the old ones. Her quality of life was poor at that time. She was hardly able to move her head from side to side or even lift her arms. She suffered from constant spasms and pain.
Jenny was currently working at a bookstore doing children’s events when she was approached by a mother who could see she was suffering. She asked if she’d ever heard of or tried chiropractic care, her husband was a chiropractor and thought he could really help. Desperate, Jenny scheduled an appointment, and saw the chiropractor through the treatment plan he set out. Although she found major relief, there was still muscle spasms and pain. At that point she made an appointment at Emory Spine Center where she saw a doctor who examined her and knew exactly what she needed… a prescription was written for neuromuscular therapy with a therapist named Katie Carr. After meeting and having a consultation, a treatment plan was set out for Jenny, 12 massages over 12 weeks. Katie seemed very hopeful she could help her regain her mobility and reduce spasms, if not rid her of them completely. The massages were sometimes so painful and intense, but Jenny trusted Katie and they worked through it.
At the end of her treatments, Jenny felt a miracle had happened. She was absolutely amazed at the transformation that had taken place in her body, all with the assistance of two human hands, nothing more, nothing less. It was at that moment a fire sparked in Jenny’s heart and she knew the path she wanted to now take in life. Knowing so many people in this world living with pain, everyday, needlessly, on drugs with poor quality of life, when maybe all they need is a little touch.
Since starting her career over a decade ago, Jenny has expanded her knowledge vastly. Working alongside chiropractors, naturopaths, and nutritionists has taught her how the body works as a whole and the incredible healing ability we have with the right assistance. In 2009, Jenny was certified in prenatal pregnancy massage and has seen many women through their entire pregnancy and they rave at how easy their labor and delivery was due to massage! Now since starting with Julie Mills in 2010 a new passion has been sparked with the incredible work of Lymph Drainage Therapy. In January 2011, Jenny got certified in Lymph Drainage Therapy 1, and began seeing amazing results incorporating this treatment! Since then, she has continued her Lymph Therapy education and has completed all 4 levels of training and is loving it! Whether through surgeries, accidents, occupational strains, or life stresses, we all go through these painful times, through massage therapy Jenny’s mission is to restore quality of life and help people feel better, naturally!
